The City of Davis has introduced a new citywide program to curb residential water use. Davis is teaming with San Francisco-based technology company WaterSmart Software, whose behavior-based water conservation program alone has been shown to reduce water use by as much as 5% in just 6 months.
“WaterSmart’s products complement the work that the City of Newport Beach has been doing for years to educate our customers on water conservation strategies,” said Shane Burckle, Conservation Manager of the City of Newport Beach.
Historically, water has been cheap and mostly plentiful to Californians, who use water not only from rivers within the state but also from the Colorado River. But droughts and a growing population have prompted lawmakers to look for ways to use the state’s water supplies more efficiently.
