EBMUD Now Delivering Home Water Reports to 50,000 Customers
San Francisco, CA – WaterSmart Software today congratulated East Bay Municipal Utility District for reaching the milestone of sending Home Water Reports to over 50,000 customers. Over the next year, EBMUD will continue to expand its WaterSmart program to reach over 100,000 customers.
“Our customers are conservation-minded and don’t want to waste water. They want an answer to this basic question: ‘How efficient am I?’ With these reports we are able to provide individual feedback to customers about how they compare to other people like them,” said Manager of Water Conservation Richard Harris.
In late 2013, the California Water Foundation concluded a year long independent review of EBMUD’s WaterSmart Software pilot program and found that on average households that received the company’s Home Water Reports used 5% less water and saw triple the levels of customer engagement than those that did not.
“What we consistently hear from water utilities is that our customer engagement solutions simply work and help them achieve their demand management goals” said Robin Gilthorpe, CEO of WaterSmart Software. “Our partnership with EBMUD is another great example of that which is why they continue to expand their Home Water Report program.”
WaterSmart now has partnerships with 40 water utilities throughout North America and monitors the water use of over 2 million households or about 2% of the national total.
WaterSmart Software provides intelligence beyond the meter to make the lives of water utility managers easier.
