WaterSmart Applauds the Passage of CA Proposition 1, The State Water Bond
San Francisco, CA – WaterSmart CEO Robin Gilthorpe made the following statement today regarding the passage of the CA State Water Bond:
California voters have sent a clear message yesterday that they support wise investments in much needed water supply and drinking water projects. The $7.5 billion in state bonds authorized by Prop 1 will be used for fiscally and environmentally responsible water projects across the state. These projects will tackle both short-term challenges of the on-going drought and long-term issues regarding our water infrastructure.
Coupled with ambitious conservation and behavioral water efficiency programs, as outlined in the updated State Water Plan, the passage of Prop 1 supports reasonable long-term solutions that ensure California will have safe supplies of water for urban and rural use for years to come.
WaterSmart’s behavioral water efficiency technology has been proven in an independent study by the California Water Foundation to triple customer engagement while reducing residential water demand by as much as 5% per year.
