WaterSmart® Expands Service Area to the City of Sacramento
50,000+ households now engaged by WaterSmart Home Water Reports
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — WaterSmart Software, a customer engagement solutions company that helps water utilities engage and educate their customers on ways to conserve water, celebrated a number of major milestones today in announcing the City of Sacramento as the latest city to adopt the company’s no-hardware water efficiency technology. Sacramento is the first major metropolitan area and the first state capital to join the company’s quickly growing client list. In signing the deal, WaterSmart is now sending personalized Home Water Reports to over 50,000 households. The project is funded by a grant from the US Bureau of Reclamation, Mid-Pacific Region.
”We are excited that major metros like the City of Sacramento are turning to WaterSmart to drive immediate and measurable improvements in customer engagement and reductions in residential water demand,“ said Peter Yolles, CEO of WaterSmart. ”Sacramento has installed new water meters and is using WaterSmart as the interface to provide meaningful water consumption feedback to their customers. We are honored to help take their water savings and engagement to the next level.“
As part of the program announced today, 5,000 households currently registered for Sacramento’s “Follow the Meter” Program soon will begin to receive WaterSmart’s print and email Home Water Reports. These reports display a household’s water use, provide personalized water-saving recommendations and allow customers to compare their water consumption to similar households within close proximity.
Residents also will be able to log on to WaterSmart’s WaterInsight Portal through any web browser or mobile device. There, they can view more detailed water use history and choose relevant water efficiency tips. Internally, utility staff can access customer data, reports and analytics in WaterSmart’s Water Efficiency Dashboard.
”Poised between the Sierras and the Central Valley, everyone in Sacramento knows first hand how important water conservation is for both ecological and agricultural uses,“ said Dave Brent, Director of the City of Sacramento Department of Utilities. ”WaterSmart is a simple way to engage our customers and increase our water efficiency without the cost and integration hassles of traditional hardware solutions or the high labor cost of walking door-to-door.“
WaterSmart’s technology has been proven to triple customer engagement while reducing residential water demand by as much as 5%. The response in the market has been positive. In 2013, WaterSmart has announced seven partnerships with utilities throughout California, and recently has announced its first partnership in Colorado.
WaterSmart Software provides intelligence beyond the meter to make the lives of water utility managers easier. Water providers using WaterSmart’s cloud-based, customer self-service and engagement platform have been proven to reduce costs, improve operational efficiency, and increase customer satisfaction by more than 25%. WaterSmart is a winner of the globally coveted World Economic Forum Technology Pioneers Award for their potential to “significantly impact business and society through the design, development and implementation of new technologies and innovation.” Come help us change the way the world uses water.
