WaterSmart Taps New CEO to lead international growth

Robin Gilthorpe to serve as new CEO; Founder Peter Yolles to Focus on Deepening Relationships with Utilities

San Francisco, CA — WaterSmart Software, the leading behavioral water efficiency company that helps water utilities and their customers save water and money, today announced several new hires that will help the company scale in the months and years ahead. Leading the slate of hires is new CEO Robin Gilthorpe, formerly of Terracotta.

Robin’s experience growing revenues at various companies from tens of millions to well over $1 billion will serve us well as we expand to working with water utilities all over the world,” said Peter Yolles, Founder and Chief Policy Officer of WaterSmart.

WaterSmart is also excited to announce additional hires to the management team to further support the growth objectives of the organization. The company has built a deep bench of executive talent with experience in the regulated utility and Enterprise SaaS industries including companies such as Schneider Electric, Schlumberger, EMeter, and EnerNOC.

WaterSmart’s recent hires include:

Robin Gilthorpe – CEO
Mr. Gilthorpe brings to WaterSmart over 25 years of experience driving bottom line revenue at big data, analytics, and financial services firms. In his recent role as CEO of Terracotta, he increased revenue by over 300% per annum and brought the company to profitability. At TIBCO, his organization included over 600 individuals and was responsible for over $500M in revenue per year.

Doug Roy – Vice President, Client Solutions
Doug is responsible for all revenue generation at WaterSmart Software. He has decades of experience in water conservation, asset management, efficiency, environmental regulations, water quality, condition assessment and policy. Prior to WaterSmart, Doug was Director of Sales for Schneider Electric Water, where he led efforts into enterprise level water loss management and SCADA software solutions. Earlier in his career Doug also worked with Wachs Water, WaterTrax, and Schlumberger. He earned his B.A.Sc. in Civil Engineering with options in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Andrew Ulmer – Senior Director, Client Solutions
Andrew is responsible for WaterSmart Software’s partnerships with regulated, investor-owned water utilities. Prior to WaterSmart, Andrew ran an independent consultancy offering strategic, technical and business planning for utilities. Earlier, starting as 20th employee at eMeter, Andrew held various roles pioneering Meter Data Management (MDM) software, energy efficiency and customer engagement platforms. Andrew earned an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of California at Berkeley where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude.

Weston McBride – Director of Product
Weston McBride is responsible for the creation, design and delivery of WaterSmart’s products, ensuring that the company continues to build the industry’s leading water communication tools. Prior to WaterSmart, Weston co-founded two consumer-facing software companies. Previously, Weston worked for Navigant Consulting, where he built a model for the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to estimate the embedded energy in water throughout California. Weston graduated from Stanford University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on product design and clean technologies.

Dominique Gómez – Director of Market Development
Dominique advocates for policies that prioritize municipal water conservation as an important solution to drought, water scarcity, and population growth. Prior to WaterSmart, Dominique focused on climate and environmental policy, first as a Governor’s Fellow for Governor Bill Richardson at the New Mexico Environment Department, then later as a consultant at Cascadia Consulting Group in Seattle. She has also spent time working on natural gas policy at the White House Council on Environmental Quality. Dominique graduated with a Masters in Business Administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and has a BA from Yale University.

Jeff Lipton – Director of Marketing
Jeff manages WaterSmart’s go-to-market strategy development and marketing campaign activities, along with sales and marketing operations. Prior to WaterSmart, Jeff managed channel development and regional field marketing for EnerNOC, an international leader in energy intelligence software and demand response solutions. He joined EnerNOC from Coyle Industries, where he led the development of renewable distributed generation solar power systems for military, developing world, and other off-grid electrical applications. Jeff earned a Masters of Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California. He also received a BA in Political Science from the University of Colorado where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
